The Cutlers of Hallamshire are renowned for their spectacular annual Feast. This, the 389th, was no exception.
After a fine dinner, the Senior Warden Ian Nicholls gave an impassioned speech on the need for preserving our core industries and investing in the education of a skilled workforce. The Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, responded on behalf of the guests and gave a speech entitled Can AI make Cutlery? His speech is available online. He discussed the relevance of an AI revolution in the lih]ght of the important industrial and social revolutions. Sheffield was the cradle of many of these.
