Judges Lunch

20th May 2026

Old Bailey

One of the highlights of the year is to be invited to lunch with the Judges at the Old Bailey and then watch a case being tried. It was a treat to find out that one of the guests would be Mr Michael Mansfield QC, one of the greats of the profession. a leading Silk in civil liberties and human rights law.

At lunch, we sat among the judges as they took a break from their trials—a fascinating experience.

Afterwards, we attended Court. It was the sentencing of two young men who were responsible for the murder of an innocent bystander at a church wake in London. Senseless waste of life and two bright young men rightly sentenced to life.
