Merchant Venturers Spring Dinner

15th May 2026

Clifton, Bristol

We were invited to the Society of Merchant Venturers Bristol Spiring Dinner. A splendid affair with the esteemed Sir Peter Bazalgette the great-grandson of the great Victorian engineer, television executive and producer, as the guest speaker. He created Ready Steady Cook, Changing Rooms and Ground Force. As Chair of Endemol, he was responsible for Big Brother and Deal or No Deal.

We were well entertained, and as the visiting Masters (all from the great 12) were greeted by name, we were the only Livery to be given a cheer! We met some wonderful people. Martin Thatcher, cider producer. Nick Baker, who made Doom Bar a nationwide success. Peaches Golding, a leading figure in West Country life and Lord Lieutenant, amongst others.
