Livery Consorts visit to Cleave, Court Jeweller

6th May 2026

Buckingham Place

Our Consort, Maggie Scanlan, invited Consirts from other livery Company's to a talk by Stephen Connelly, Director of the Court Jeweller Cleave and Company. We were 'royally entertained and informed about the intracacies of ensuring the Court medals and insignia are up to date and worn in the correct place and on the correct occaision. Stephen has worked with our late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip and their family and now the King and Queen Camilla, their family and Nobility.

They also carry out the same work for many Royal Families and State Leaders around the world. We were shown magnificent pieces all steeped in pagentry, heraldry and tradition. Of course Stephen had many tales to tell, most of which illustrate what wonderful people the Royal Family are and how his comapny supports their staff in ensuring all State occaisions are given full honour and recognition. He was most discreet but kept us highly amused.

The visiting Consorts enjoyed themselves as guests of our Livery Consort and all made a small donation to a charity chosen by Cleave. A wonderful lunch followed where the Cleave team of designers, coordinators and Directors offered more insight into this fascinating world.
