St Patricks Day

17th March 2026

Mons Barracks Aldershot

As guests of the Irish Guards Benevolent Fund, we were invited to Mons Barracks, Aldershot to see HRH Catherine Princess of Wales, review the Guards and present the traditional Shamrock.

We were delighted to be introduced to the Princess, who had been briefed on who we were and why we were there. We had a lovely chat, not often this Master is tongue-tied, but Maggie came to the rescue!

We had lunch with the ranks and drinks in the Sergeant's Mess afterwards, having time to get to know Seamus the Mascot. A fine day generously hosted by Ron Kirkland, Chair of the Irish Guards Benevolent Fund and Major Steve McMichael, Assistant Regimental Adjutant, RHQ Irish Guards.
