Election Court and Lunch

18th March 2026

Bakers Hall

The untimely passing of our dear friend Honourary Treasurer Ian Venters overshadowed a normally joyous Election Court. The Master read a moving tribute written by his good friend, PM Paul Taberer. A full version will appear in the Spring Edition of Smoke Signals.

Highlights of the Meeting were:

Neal Neilinger was made a Court Assistant

Karen Neilinger was gowned in the Livery

David Rosen and Alex Tiley were made Freemen of the Company

Andrew Bye was made a Liveryman and gowned as a Freeman.

WELCOME!

Jacquline Burrows was elected as our next Master

Mallory Factor, Senior Warden

Terry Fenner Leitao, Renter Warden

Stephan Von Schilling, Third Warden

and Assistant Rae Maile elected Fourth Warden

All Officers were re-elected, as was Fr Jack!

CONGRATULATIONS!

A good lunch was enjoyed, followed by an excellent and amusing speech by the Consort Maggie Scanlan. She highlighted the many aspects of her year so far as Consort, serious, fun and heart-rending, thanking the Court for the marvellous opportunity. Welcomed in June 2025 by HRH Princess Anne and wished well by HRH Princess Catherine in March were unexpected moments to treasure.

As lunch finished with time to spare, the Court and guests enjoyed a while to dwell with friends and chat over the remains of the Port.

For those who wished a bit more socialising, many repaired to the Walrus and Carpenter to enjoy the spring sunshine.....
