Service of Thanksgiving for Major Robbie Wilmont MBE

25th February 2026

Guards Chapel Wellington Barracks

Major Robbie Wilmont was described as a force of nature by his colleagues during the eulogy. Indeed, he was. To all those who had come within his orbit, he left a lasting impression. A fine soldier, leader of men, a tireless advocate of the Irish Guards Benevolent Fund.

A beautiful service in the Guards Chapel made even more touching by the Last Post and the Pipers' Lament. The latter, a haunting tune which filled the chapel and faded as the piper walked slowly down the aisle and out into the courtyard.

The Company was represented by Past Masters Jerry Merton, Elise Rasmussen and Henry Tuck; Past Consorts Katherine Hampson and Carolyn Tuck, Senior Warden Jacqueline Burrows, The Master and Consort Maggie Scanlan.

After a chat with Seamus the Mascot, we were invited to the Sergeant's Mess, where a mighty spread and the cheapest pint of Guinness in London awaited us.
