David Roach’s Freedom of the City

17th October 2023

Guildhall

Receiving your Freedom of the City is such a privilege. It is "one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies still in existence today, and is believed to have been first presented in 1237" according to the City of London website.

I remember when I received my Freedom and Brian received his. Both were causes for celebration. So it was a distinct honour to be invited to my friend, David Roach's Freedom of the City Ceremony.

Tiphaine Le Bian, Deputy Clerk to the Chamberlain's Court, presented David with his certificate and designated him as the youngest Freeman - until after lunch!!! Welcome David to a most honoured membership!
