Distillers’ Spirits Tasting

World tours are most notable when describing rock concerts, superstars and cruises! However, the Distillers bested them all when they created their own world tour at Vintners’ Hall, which like the aforementioned ones was a sell out!
Bottles of every conceivable vodka, gin, scotch, bourbon, vermouth, rum, etc, etc, etc were placed geographically around the world. Not unlike sports matches, spirits from South Africa and Europe, England and Wales, the Caribbean and South America, Ireland and Scotland, Belgium and France, Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland, Asia and New Zealand, Italy and Spain, US and Canada jostled for position and favour amongst a room full of connoisseurs armed with a wine glass and an extensive booklet.
I started off the evening appropriately with a gin called Prohibition. I finished the evening drinking a purple liquor that tasted like coconut and was divine over an ice cube with some wonderful Consorts and female Masters.
As we left the hall, there was a table set up where we could buy lucky dip bags that contained two bottles of partially consumed samplings. All proceeds went to charity. I acquired two bags containing Tranquil Still Damson Gin from England, Three Ships Whisky from South Africa, Dubonnet from France, and Vermouth from Canada. Thus bringing a bit of the World Tour home to Hampshire.
