The Worshipful Co of Hackney Carriage Drivers Spring Dinner

The Clerk and I were pleased to be invited by Master Hackney Carriage Drivers to their Spring Court Dinner at Barber Surgeons’ Hall – along with several other Masters and Clerks. The HCD organise the annual Magical Taxi Tour to Disneyland Paris, and it was moving to hear more about the excitement this brings to deserving children.
Lt Gen Sir Andrew Gregory was the principal guest, and he likened the Magical Tour to the tremendous work SSAFA does for the armed forces and the benefits this charitable work does.
Awards were presented by the Company to military affiliates – as the Master reminded us of the 3 legs to the livery movement – charity, education and fellowship.
A fabulous evening amongst lovely people and delicious meal in the Great Hall dominated by a magnificent Holbein painting of Henry VIII uniting the Barbers’ and Surgeons’ Companies in 1541/2!
