Justice! Trial and Error

16th March 2026

An entertainment at No1 Court of the Old Bailey

After a welcome glass of red, admiring the famous Old Bailey halls and stairs, we were ushered to our seats in Court No.1. We were surprised how small and compact the Court is. It was 'awesome' in its true sense to sit in the Court Room where some of the most famous and infamous trials in our history have been played out. People have been led from that room to their death, incarceration and freedom. Somewhat spine tingling

What followed was a reenactment of four famous trials, from Sir Walter Raleigh to Timothy Evans. Through a mixture of splendid acting, massive overacting, farce, pathos and patchy singing, these trials were brought to life. The glue for the performance was the author, a renowned High Court Judge and Colin Sell, the well-known pianist and musician who brought the atmosphere to life and kept the enthusiastic cast on track.

Star of the show was our own Fiona Adler, who played several parts in all manner of guises and genders, an extraordinary performance.

If you get a chance to go next year, it's one not to miss!
